A Computer Viruses is a lot like a virus to a human, the computer could have a small annoying virus like a cold to a human where the computer takes a long time to start up, could run slow and does not perform well, programs crash and screen freezes or a computer could a have a virus what will take over and you could lose everything and anything that is on that machine and when the virus takes over it could even send information that you have stored on that machine to a 3rd party!
Windows safe mode fake Virus.
Microsoft Windows has a built in safe mode to diagnose and troubleshoot problems with the operating system but will not access this unless instructed to by the user, if you have not instructed your computer to start or run in safe mode you have more than likely picked up the windows safemode virus. Windows SafeMode software is a fake application that attempts to mislead computer users with fake hard drive errors. Windows Safe Mode virus will state that several hard disk problem are detected particularly on the boot sector. It will advise to install the licensed version of the program that will end up users paying for this unwanted application via their own online payment web site. All the time the virus is running you will not be able to use your computer! It will display the following messages to trick its victims:

Other Rouge anti-virus programs.
One virus I see over and over again is Total Security, Total Security is a rogue anti-spyware application that displays false scan results and the main reason so many computers get infected is because it look's like a genuine anti-spyware/anti-virus program a lot like the security center in Microsoft windows, below are some screen shots of the rogue program.
The other thing with this rogue anti-spyware application and many others like it, is even if you do click on the cancel button and not the run/install button the program will STILL install! So a good thing to learn is if when surfing the web a pop up does appear on your screen always click on the red cross in the upper right hand conner of the browser window and even better still press Alt and F4 on the keyboard witch will close the browser and this way in most case's it will stop from installing!
There are many good anti virus programs out there and I my self recommend Norton, I use Norton on all my own computers and on all my school networks I all so recommend Malwarebytes and Malwarebyres will remove the rogue anti-spyware program Total Security.
